Fertometer is a meter used to measure the nutrient levels in soil. The Fertometer works by using the process of electrolysis and is also referred to as an EC (Electrical conductivity) meter. Like a plant, the Fertometer works by absorbing nutrients from soil, by absorbing this nutrients the meter determines whether there are sufficient nutrients within the soil.
The Fertometer measures absorbable nutrients called Ions and these consist mainly in Nitrogen, although the meter can measure Nitrogen it can not measure individual elements in soil.
The accuracy of the Fertometer depends mainly on the quantity of the water contained in the soil. For best results use the meter when the soil is saturated as readings will be most accurate.
